Greetings from the Director . . .
SpeechCom was established to provide English pronunciation training for foreign-born people in southern California. We have worked with thousands of people from more than 50 different language backgrounds since 1983. Training keeps us in direct contact with people from all over the world; it also keeps us in touch with what they want and need to improve their communication.
Acquiring a second language as an adult is difficult. Mastering English speech patterns presents a huge challenge, but it is critical to be clearly understood. We meet people every day, some with almost no accent at all and some with heavy accents, who want to speak English more clearly and be more successful professionally.
SpeechCom offers ways to make this learning easier and more effective. Well-designed CDs are convenient and inexpensive. Our American Speechsounds software programs give users audio and visual information about pronunciation along with immediate feedback so they can change their spoken English more quickly and easily. Technology will continue to expand our horizons.
SpeechCom creates innovative materials and techniques to help accented speakers master American English. We are committed to using technology effectively along with proven instructional methods to develop the best programs available.
