OO
When people have
trouble pronouncing the OO sound, it is usually because they are mixing it up
with U. The OO sound is “relaxed.” That means the muscles of your mouth are not
tense. It tends to be shorter than the
U, too.
Instructions to
make this sound: Are your lips somewhat rounded? Are the muscles of your mouth relaxed?
Common problems:
Using an U sound so “full” sounds like “fool.”
Common spellings:
OO as in “book,” O as in “woman,” U as in “pull”
